Jules, Baby's dad, wants to get a tattoo. On the way to the tattoo parlor Baby is trying to talk her father out of it but he knows what he wants. there is no way out of it for him.
This shows that Baby is aware of the threats of life (AIDS) and the consequences. I feel like the roles of parent and child are reversed in this story. Baby is the parents and Jules is the kid, doing drugs, rebelling, and going into rehab.
